Argentine artist Mauricio E. Quirante (b.1976) is known for his gothic and complex paintings and drawings, the subject which always tends to be scenes drenched in a personal recognition. Working in accordance with a self-determined and evolving set of tools that keep expanding, the artist enacts a series of decisions which results in works that are completely constructed according to an internal analysis.
Paintings and illustrations that morph from figurative to abstract, from black and white to bright warm landscapes, all surrounded by an aura of enigma.
As he says, “A painting is a long process of thought, direction, intention, and the things that are revealed through silence.”
Born in 1976 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Quirante studied at the “Instituto Bernardino Rivadavia,” then moved to California where he studied at the Learning Tree University in Thousand Oaks, later at the College of Fine Arts in Sherman Oaks. The artist began doing shows in the 2000s at various art events such as Cannibal Flower, Think Space, and The Hive.
In 2013, he worked on a graphic novel as a cover artist for “Dreamthieves,” written by Keith Malinski. In 2018, the artist did a cover for “Witchblade,” published by Top Cow. He then moved to Idaho, where he established a workshop exclusively for the creation of these works.
